Kindle App Rankings for January 2011

These Kindle App Rankings are a mix of January 10th app rankings (for the Top 10) and January 8th Kindle App Rankings for the rest.

Kindle App Rankings for January 2011 – Top 10

All these apps are available in the Kindle App section of the Kindle Store

  1. Scrabble at #7.
  2. Match Genius at #20.
  3. Solitaire at #20.
  4. Maze a Thon at #42.
  5. Anywhere Abs at #47.
  6. NY Times Crosswords #1 at #49.
  7. Monopoly at #50.
  8. Mahjong Solitaire at #68.
  9. Sudoku at #93.
  10. Texas Hold’em at #161.

It’s interesting that as soon as the EA half-price sale ended its apps dropped dramatically in sales rank. It had 3 apps in the top 10, including Scrabble at #1, and now those 3 are at the 7th, 20th, and 93rd spots.

Kindle App Rankings for January 2011 – Kindle Apps outside the Top 100

These are all app rankings as of January 8th. These are also available at the link listed above -

  1. Slingo at #169.
  2. Hangman 4 Kids at #273.
  3. Hangman at #446.
  4. NY Times Crosswords Vol. 2 at #448.
  5. Wordoku Unbound at #514.
  6. Triple Town at #559.
  7. Dusk World at #752.
  8. NY Times Crosswords Vol. 3 at #825.
  9. Jumble 200 at #908.
  10. Jumble 50 at #1,193.
  11. Next at #1,239.
  12. Choice of the Dragon at #1,810.
  13. Panda Poet is #1,904.
  14. Jumble 20 at #2,166.
  15. NY Times Crosswords Vol. 4 at #4,318.
  16. Choice of Broadsides at #5,191.

It’s pretty clear that once Kindle Apps exit the top 100 they drop very quickly. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of interest in the Kindle Apps outside the Top 100. At sales rank #500 we’re talking about 50 or so sales a day. That would mean apps like Jumble 200 and Next and Panda Poet are seeing 20 to 40 sales a day.

Kindle App Rankings for Free Kindle Apps

Here are the top free Kindle Apps -

  1. Every Word at #1 in the free rankings.
  2. Blackjack at #7 in the free rankings.
  3. Shuffled Row at #15 in the free rankings.
  4. Minesweeper at #33 in the free rankings.
  5. Jumble 3 at #50 in the free rankings.

It’s interesting that Every Word and Shuffled Row are still doing so well. They were released a really, really long time back.

What’s a List of Links doing at #99?

A collection of links to sites that have games playable in the Kindle’s browser, Mega Game Pack, is at #99. The reviews complain that a lot of the games aren’t really playable in the Kindle browser.

It’s interesting that a collection of links has made it all the way to the Top 100.

I’m trying to read this market as well and I’m wondering where you saw the data or are these estimates?
