Kindle Hamster Habitat Review

Hamster Habitat Review – Review Introduction

This is a review of Hamster Habitat – connecting game for Kindle by Amazon Digital Services. It is available for free in the Amazon store and was released in January, 2012. It is rated 3.5 stars on 29 customer reviews.

Available for the following Kindle versions as of 2/7/2012: Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX, Kindle 2nd Generation.

Hamster Habitat Review – Main Takeaways

Hamster Habitat is similar to other “Pipes” games in that you use a supply of straight and curved tubing but different in that you connect hamster cages and treats and make a network.

There is a 7 page tutorial (yes, it’s a book!) on how to play the game and even an introductory set of games to help you. Thereare also 3 sets of 19 games each – easy, medium, and hard. It even has answers to puzzles that you can look at if you are stumped, which I often was.

I think the concept is good, but it took me a good hour to figure out how to play the game and even then I often couldn’t get the pipes to do what I wanted them to do. I think it is a good brain teaser and an interesting concept.

Hamster Habitat – Conclusion and Overall Rating

I  give my Hamster Habitat review 3 stars. I think the game is good but too hard to ramp up and get playing. I think if you really got into it and played it for a long time it would be a great brain teaser game.

Kindle Hamster Habitat – new free game

Amazon Digital Services released a new free game for Kindle today called Hamster Habitat.  This is a pipe game with 50 puzzles available.  It looks interesting and – even better – is available for Kindle Touch.  Also available for all other Kindle versions that allow Active Data Content.

It was just released today and is already gathering interest. Check it out!

Kindle Puzzazz Holiday Gift (Free Puzzles)

Puzzazz has put out a free holiday sampler of puzzles called Puzzazz Holiday Gift in time for all the holiday Kindle giving.  This is a great way to see which other game apps you might want to buy.  Puzzazz Holiday Gift is available for Kindle, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX and Kindle 2nd Generation.

I didn’t have time to work through any of the puzzles last night – but did page through them and they look fun. Contents include:

3 Holiday Word Search puzzles
3 Sudoku puzzles
3 Holiday Wordolu puzzles
1 Holiday Word Search for kids
1 Holiday themed Anabel Puzzle Mystery

Kindle Jigsaw Words Volume 2 Available for Free

Jigsaw Words Volume 2 was released on November 16, 2011 and is currently available for free in the Amazon Kindle store.

Available as of 11/18/2011 for the following Kindle devices:  Kindle Touch (this is the first app I have seen that works on Kindle Touch – so I am excited to try out the action on mine), Kindle 4, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX, Kindle 2. (phew – that list is getting long).

My review of Jigsaw Words gave the original version between 4 and 4.5 stars and I am sure the new version is just as good.  Both reviews of the new volume are 5 stars - so I’m heading off to download it now and try gaming on the Kindle Touch.

Kindle Pixel Perfect Holiday Puzzles

Amazon released another free game on Friday called Pixel Perfect Holiday Puzzles.  This is a holiday themed version of Pixel Perfect Puzzles. The puzzles are broken down as follows:

11 – Winter Begins
07 – Hanukkah
07 – Christmas
11 – Winter Continues
07 – Kwanzaa
07 – New Years

Pixel Perfect Puzzles is a fun game – so I recommend adding this to your collection.

Oh – I am giving myself bonus points for my guess in October that the Holiday trend for games was going to continue.  But I am sad that a Thanksgiving version of games has been overlooked so far.
