Here are some of the recent new game and app releases for e-ink Kindles as of July 28, 2012. All apps are available for all Kindle e-readers with Active Content ability unless otherwise listed.

**Mahjong Words by  Mobigloo. A very promising and nicely reviewed new word game. Based upon the concept of Mahjong Solitaire – there are 24 tile layouts that you use to spell words.  Right now it is on sale for $0.99 (regularly $1.99).  If you like words, I suggest you try this out.

*Picture Cross Deluxe Edition by puzzle.tv.  100 new nanogram puzzles for only $0.99.

Heroes Rise by Choice of Games. An interactive novel, but it is getting good reviews if you like this genre. $2.99.

Getting Dumped – Part 2. Second installment in this active fiction series for $4.99.

Stock Ticker by Voyager Apps.  An investment tracker for your e-reader for $0.99 (Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard).

Two More Kindle Games for Early July

Here are two new games that have been released in the last week or so for Kindle e-reader devices:

Fish Tank is a business strategy game for Kindle by Play Gray. For $1.99 you can manage your fish tank and watch it grow.  Make decisions that will help you become more successful.  Go from goldfish up to whales (ok – the last part might be an exaggeration). Rated 4 stars on 5 customer reviews and available for all active content Kindle devices.

LetterWeb by oicapps is a word game for Kindle. It’s hard to figure this out from illustrations, but you are untangling words and finding hidden words.  My guess is that word lovers will like this app and the price is right at $0.99. Available for all active content Kindle devices except Kindle Touch.

Kindle Mahjong Butterfly Update plus two new apps for July 1

Great news for you Mahjong Butterfly lovers out there (some of us are addicted to the game).  If you have read my past reviews, this is my absolute favorite game on the Kindle (see my Mahjong Butterfly review). Several of us were frustrated because we could only earn a portion of the 50 butterflies.  I felt like I was waiting in vain for an update to ever come out – but in the middle of June they released v1.1 which now allows all 50 butterflies to be collected.  If you haven’t updated – get it now and get back to collecting.  If you haven’t purchased this app, it is well worth the $2.99. Still only available on the Kindle 2, Kindle Keyboard and Kindle DX – I feel sorry for the rest of you.

To finish off June, there were also two new interactive fiction releases.

The Shadow in the Cathedral by Textfyre is the first in the Klockwerk Series. I have to admit I snorted when I saw the $9.99 price tag attached to it.  Really?  $9.99.  Must be a potential Pulitzer Prize winner.  If anyone out there puts forth that kind of money for this app, please let me know how it is because I’m not going to even try it. Available for all Kindle devices with active content except the Kindle (4).

infix: Insight by black belt games is a Science Fiction interactive fiction app.  At least it is reasonably priced at $1.99. Available for all Kindles with Active Content.

I’m off to collect some butterflies while we wait to see what July brings.
